Having personal projects is extremely important as a photographer. It helps us grow and hone our skill, as well as try out techniques that we wouldn't want to try out for the first time on a paying client. I constantly push myself to learn new techniques in portrait photography and try out new lenses and equipment. Coming up with conceptual narratives also helps with the storytelling aspect of photography - what do I want the photographs to say? What message do I want to get across? Creative projects also help keep our imagination active and we are able to use that imagination and creativity in our senior portrait photography sessions.
