Photo Native Conference - Provo, UT - January 26-28

Last month, I had the wonderful experience of going to Photo Native in Provo, Utah. For those of you that don't know, Photo Native is a 2 or 3 day photography conference that creates a learning environment where professional photographers can learn from the best in the industry.

The photography masters fly in from all across the USA and share their amazing wisdom with all of us. It's perfect for beginners, as well as those of us that have been in business for a while and feel like freshening up on some basics. It's also a fantastic opportunity to mingle with like-minded creative people and meet some of our idols! There's 2 full days of lectures, ranging from business basics to fashion photography, and personal projects to perfecting your Lightroom workflow. After leaving Edinburgh College of Art, it was important for me as an artist to keep on pushing myself to learn new things and to grow as an artist and photographer.

For this reason, I decided to opt-in for a creative shoot with top Senior photographer Keala Jarvis the day before the official conference started. She styled the most amazing senior portrait session (and even made the incredible backdrop you'll see below!) and it really was such a great experience photographing in an environment that I wasn't used to photographing in. Most of you know that I work primarily outdoors on location, so it's always a little challenging to photograph indoors. But that's the beauty of Photography! It's good to push the boundaries of your comfort zone every once in a while. Also, just a side note before I show you the photographs, these beautiful girls are actually High School Seniors (or were last year)... they are not professional models.
